 Dave and I had the best day yesterday cruising the Huon River. Our Captain Taylor was so welcoming and informative and just an all round lovely young man. Beautiful scenery along with local wine and produce to snack on along the way. Highly recommend this experience when visiting Tassie.

 The morning tea cruise along the beautiful Huon river in a grand old timber vessel called Ladrone (circa 1948). Skipper Taylor provided expert commentary and interesting anecdotes of the history and life along the river, as well as fresh scones with jam and cream all locally sourced. Coffee and tea also provided. This is an experience not to be missed.

Getting to us and visiting the Huon Valley

The best way to get to Huon River Cruises from Hobart is by car or campervan rental, giving you the freedom to explore along the way. Just take the Southern Outlet (A6) south towards Huonville, then continue on the Huon Highway (A6) for about 45 km (40–45 minutes), go trhough Franklin and after about 5 minutes you will be at the turn off. The cruise departs from Heriots Point, a private Vineyard on the banks of the Huon River, where our beautiful wooden boat LaDrone awaits your arrival on the river. With your own wheels, you can make stops at local farm gates, cider houses, and scenic lookouts, turning the journey into an unforgettable Tasmanian road trip.

We proudly acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways we operate and thank them for allowing us to use the river to celebrate the beautiful natural scenery and explore history and culture in as respectful a way as possible. The Huon Valley was, for over 55 000 years home to the Melukerdee people of the Huon Valley and continues to be now and into the future. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the neighbouring clans Lyluequonny people of the far South, the Nuenonne people of Bruny Island and the Muwinina people of Hobart.
